I purchased a new computer and I had lost my passwords for one of my blogs. For some reason when I hit lost password screen, the reset key that was sent to me was invalid. I was in a panic because I did not know much about resetting it through my cpanel on my hosting server.

I found the information after some searching and thought I would share it for any others who may run into the same problem.

Fort you need to go to phpMyAdmin and open the database that you have your Word press Blog. Find the users and hit browse. Find the User that is yours (the admin) and click edit. Now you need to search Google and find a md5 hasher and type in your new password and it will generate a code. Place this code into the password field and hit go to save. This should reset your password to a new password and you should be able to access your blog admin.

I hope this helps someone else because I know how it feels to not be able to figure out how to get into your admin panel.

I am not a big fan of most social bookmarking sites. I do like like a couple of community sites. I joined MyBlogLog.com a while back but have not done much with it. As you can see in my sidebar, I decided to give it a better try. I have added the widget and I have updated my profile. It is a great way to interact with other in the same niche and also to drive some traffic to your site. The main reason I use it is that it is fun. I am beginning to find some people that I interact with that share many of the same interest as I do.

It is easy to join and if you are a member of Yahoo, you can use the same log-in information and add all your blogs to the site. You can also link to all your other social sites with ease. I have had problems verifying my blogs because they do not seem to pick up my blog post to verify it. I am going to try again today to see if it works.

One of the good ways to increase your back links is to leave comments on blogs that allow do follow links. Of course this should be done in a professional manner and not done as spam. Many blogs, such as mine, moderate all comments to ensure that they are not just spam.

The proper way to leave a comment that will be accepted is to first read the post. Your comment should be relative to the post and not just a random comment. Comments like “thanks”, ‘interesting post”, “good information”, and other generic comments are often discarded as spam.

The URL you are trying to promote is to be placed in one place only! That place is in the form where it request you to put your website URL. If you try to slip URLs with in the comments, they will be often rejected and tossed away with the spam.

If you respect the author of the blog with genuine quality comments, most bloggers do not mind giving you a back link to your site.

In this post, I am compiling a list of blogs that are do-follow blogs. Please do not spam them as they work hard to write quality blogs and do not need a bunch of garbage.

I recently compiled a good list of Free Directories and I am still adding everyday. I thought it was a good idea to start a list for paid directories also. I mostly use free directories. However, there are some advantages to paid directories. Many quality paid directory owners return much of the money they make back into the business. They do more promotion and advertising which means that your link has a better chance of being seen. The fees for paid directories vary and the quality also varies.

When looking for a paid directory, the first thing you want to look at is if the directory is very clean with a nice template. If the directory looks professional and high quality, chances are, the owner invests money into the directory. You also want to check the age of the directory. Avoid directories that are too new because they may be fly by nights who make the quick buck and then sells the directory to a new owner who removes your link.

There are tons of paid directories and many quality directory owners. I will try to include some that I have found on here. I will be adding to this list as I find paid directories. If you are a paid directory owner and wish to be listed, there are some requirements.

1. You must be the owner.
2. The site must be in English.

You can submit your directory for inclusion by leaving a comment with a link to your directory.

There are so many plugins when it comes to a WordPress blog. I use a few but one of the most important ones that I use for all my blogs is the All in One SEO Pack. As I mentioned in previous post, there are many things that are important when it comes to making your site ready for the search engines. However, to do some of them in WordPress requires you to do some template modification.

With the Seo Plugin, this is not necessary. This plugin will automatically install meta tags and descriptions for every post based off you tags and your posts. You can of course tweak this to your own descriptions but if you do not want to take the time, it will be done automatically.

The other cool feature of this plugin is that it will prevent your articles from being duplicated in the search engines. You can have categories, archives, tag clouds marked as not indexed which means the search engines will not follow the links and they will not be indexed more than once. This prevents problems with possible duplicate content penalties from the search engines.

All in all, if you have the ability and time to do all the work yourself, I recommend you change the template and do it the exact way you want. However, if like me, you have no interest in changing codes or messing with the template, this is the plugin for you. It can be used as is or can be tweaked to your needs. It is well worth adding it to your plugins and best of all it is free.

Just remember Search Engine Optimization is never done. You will always need to work harder to be number one. This plugin is just a small step in to building a number one blog.
