Don’t Forget the Web Design

Published by at 6:50 pm under Website Creation

I often talk about promoting a website and doing proper SEO. However, there are other things to consider when creating an site. It must be appealing to the viewer or they will not stay on the site for long.

Designing an attractive website depends on who you are trying to reach. For example, I am mainly a blogger so my audience is readers of my related topic. However, many web entrepreneurs create full business sites or other product related sites designed to sell something. For these types of sites, one may need to hire a professional. It is often advisable to find one in your sate so for me I would look for a New York web design company.

There are many professional web designers so it is important to find everything you can about the company you decide to hire. Check out their portfolio and look at their designs to see how they rate compared to what you are looking for. Next, make sure you carefully look at their testimonials and see what their other customers are saying and if they are happy with the service.

Webmasters need to remember, SEO is very important but it is what people see when they come to your site that determines if they ever return. A well designed site with all the looks of a professional business will draw people in and keep them coming back.

I would like to agree with you that SEO isn’t everything. Web Design in fact user friendly design is important as well. Make your site in accordance to user’s perspective, choose the right color scheme and design it for humans not for search engine bots.

There is nothing worse than going to a website and been unable to make head nor tail of what your supposed to press or read.
Walls of text may look great for the search engines crawl but to the audience its a big head ache.

With growing specialization in the information technology field there is a strong tendency to draw a clear line between web design and web development.

I work for a local ad company. Having an attractive website is huge. So many small business’s have the worst websites. Definitely gives you an edge if you have a good one.

I love SEO and have built a lot of websites all for myself. Now that I am a Internet Marketing Consultant for small businesses, I am finding that I need to build sites for my customers and I am not an artist.
I love to work the strategy, set up the domain name and SEO strategy including all the social media sites, yet when it comes to writing articles or building a beautiful website, I am not the best at it.
So as you say, I need to find a person that is “artistic” and can help me with my business doing what they are great at so I can do what I love and have the results be amazing so I can keep getting new customers.
Now I have customers in my State, yet I am now needing a designer to do the graphics and looking for a low cost high quality solution to help me get the sites looking awesome.

Finding the middle ground between SEO and a good looking site is a challenge indeed. Users definitely prefer less on a page.

I agree. While some other do not consider design as equally important, it is one of the things I am improving right now.

I definitely would agree with you that web design is very important if you want to drive traffic to your website. A poor web design will be a big turn off to your visitors.

May I add that the web design should be balanced, not cramming with photos to the point of confusing the readers and not too wordy because only a college student who’s having a research about cancer would be interested in text. It’s not a book, it’s a web site. A web master should already know what people would be expecting.
