DMOZ: Listed Not Listed

Published by Tom under General Blog Info

I wrote a post a while back that this blog got listed on DMOZ directory. I was looking around a last week and I found out I was removed from the listings. I just received an email from one of my loyal readers and they said, did you see you are now listed again on DMOZ. I thought it was a joke so I went and checked and sure enough, I am back on. I am listed here.

I am not sure what is going on over there because it seems off and on. I hope this time it remains. I am very curious of the long term benefit that the listing will have. I will report back in a few months of any benefit from it.

Anybody have their site listed then removed then listed again?

De-Listed From DMOZ

I posted a while back that my humble blog got listed on DMOZ. I thought it was cool and maybe I could get some benefits. However, I checked yesterday and it was no longer in their directory. I am not sure what is up with that it restores my opinion that DMOZ sucks. They use to be the end all to be all for web directories but now they offer very little benefits for the hassle to list with them.

Just to navigate their massive categories will give any webmaster a headache. I received 5 visits in over a month from their directory and maybe that was their editors.  Oh well, I guess I really did not  need them anyway.

What is your opinion of DMOZ?

SEO08.com Got Listed in DMOZ directory

Many webmaster go crazy trying to get their site listed in one of the biggest directories on the Internet, DMOZ. I found that it could be a benefit to be listed but nothing to obsess over.

I will normally submit my site to them when I feel it is ready to be listed and then I forget about it. Most of my sites never get listed and many sites takes over a year to get listed. I submitted this blog once I had the theme set up and some good content and basically forgot about it.

Today, I was going through my blog stats and I seen some traffic from DMOZ and thought that it was strange. I clicked on over to their directory and lo and behold, my little old SEO blog was in the listings. I can not say that it will mean a lot but I hear that many directories pick up listings from them to feel their directories which will mean a possibility of many new back links. I do not get my hope up but it would be nice to generate some new traffic to increase the earnings for this blog.

Has anyone seen any real benefit from being listed? Please share your own experience by leaving a comment here.
