One of the best ways for webmasters to network with other webmasters is to visit good forums to help build relationships and exchange services. Webmaster Forums UK is one place where I like to visit and meet with others who could use my services.
I use these forums to keep up with the latest trends, find web designers, and to Buy Sell Website. As most webmasters know, the more you think you know about promotions and SEO, the more you have to learn. Webmaster forums allow you to share your knowledge and skills while learning new techniques for making your blog or website the best it can be.
There are so many other things that can be learned on a Webmaster forum. If you visit the Web Hosting Forum, you could find multiple deals for great hosting products that are much cheaper than if you were to try to find them by searching Google. From reseller to dedicated servers, I have found tons of deals when looking for a new hosting company.
Webmaster forums allow you to showcase your talent to thousands of other webmasters for free. If you were to try and advertise your services through other means, you could end up eating all your profits. I use Webmaster forums to sell my writing services and I have made a nice second income and built some long term business relationships. Without the forums I visit, business would be quite slow and I would have to spend a lot of my time just trying to find clients.
I am not saying that you have to offer a service or even be in the market for one. Webmaster Forums are primarily there to allow a place for like minded people to express opinions, share knowledge, and form business and personal relationships. From mere beginners to life long webmasters, you will find it all on a good Webmaster forum. I thought I knew a lot until I signed up for the different Webmaster forums that I use. My knowledge base has expanded and I seem to learn something everyday.
If you are serious about blogging or building a quality website, you really need to be part of a community by joining a good Webmaster forum.

If you have been around a while as a webmaster, I am sure that you have heard about Digital Point Forums. It is the largest known webmaster forum. It was once one of the best market places for webmasters. Is it losing its appeal?
In the past few months many changes have been made. Some are good and some are causing problems with doing any business on the forums. There have been many new moderators added and some are so young that they lack the maturity to run a forum of that size. The forum is running over with spammers and scammers and the sad part is that some of the scammers are long time members who seem to be protected by the forum leaders. Threads started about this member are closed and many people have been scammed.
The rules have been updated to include a 7 day ban for bumping threads. Of course, the general chat forum has tons of threads that have nothing to do with webmaster related topics and they can be bumped over and over. They say it is to clean up the market place but the market place is beyond repair. If you post an offer, it is quickly buried or overrun by people willing to work so cheap that a member from an Industrialized nation would starve with those rates.
The freebie section is a joke because it includes anything from free up to $5 deals. This is not free, it is a joke. Every time this is brought up, the thread is quickly closed with responds like “It ain’t going to happen” or “Only Shawn can change it.”
Shawn is the owner of the forum and he only pops in now and then and seems to have no interest in members’ concerns. That is sad to see since DP was once the greatest webmaster forum on the Internet.
The rules seem to change all the time and there can be stickies found all over the forum but not consolidated in one convenient place. We are told to report violations of the rules. However, it depends on which moderator you get rather it will be dealt with. Shannon (Smyrl on the forum) is the only moderator that can be relied on to handle issues the same all the time.
I am not trying to trash the forum because there are some great members on there. I have done a lot of business on DP since I joined in the spring of 2006. I am just expressing my concerns and the concerns of many members on the forum. I have tried to express those concerns on the forum and the threads are shut down quickly. I would love to see DP restored to a webmaster forum of high quality. It is sad to see General Chat garbage threads getting hundreds of replies while honest webmaster related topics may not get any. Is DP still a webmaster forum?
The problems have drawn me to ask the question to both myself and other members, has Digital Point Forums lost its appeal for webmasters?

One of the best means of building back-links that will also equal traffic is by joining forums related to your topic. On forums you can converse with people who share a common interest in your topic and you will have a chance to promote your website to them.
The key way to promote your website on forums is through the signature line. Some forums limit your links to a certain number of links and a certain number of characters. Others allow as many as you want. There are some forums that offer only no follow signatures. Do not overlook these! The important thing when promoting your site is to build traffic. By using both do follow and no follow links, you will be able to spread your links to places where like minded people will see them.
When using signature links from forums, be sure to read all the rules of the forum. Some forums have a certain amount of posts or time as a member before you are allowed to use the signature line. I was very active on a forum once and when I started a new site related to that topic, I added my link to my signature. I received a nasty email stating I could not add a link of a competing site. Seemed crazy since mine was a related topic but not a forum. This is why I say to read all rules carefully and try to stick with in the rules.
Most forums that offer signature links do so to provide and extra benefit to their members. It is a way to share your site and discover new sites. Please do not spam! It will ruin the benefits for everyone. Become an active member and really be a part of the community and you will gain many benefits from the forum signature.
