The Planet Data Center Has Fire

Published by at 8:35 pm under Uncategorized

Sometimes we see how vulnerable the Internet and its structure can be. On Saturday a fire in Houston, Texas’s The Planet’s H1 Data Center reported a fire that caused them to shut down their generators and in turn shutting down thousands of websites. Personal it has not affected my blogs or websites but many of the big websites including sites like Entrecard are affected and the outage could be several hours.

The Planet reports no damage to any of its servers but the servers are still not up and working and they are reporting still working on the problem several hours later.

To keep up to date, The Planet is providing hourly updates on their forum.

As you mentioned above, this outage at The Planet wound up affecting Entrecard, a popular traffic building and social network community for bloggers. The site was offline for a little over 24 hours on Saturday and Sunday.

Fortunately, it looks like Entrecard is back up and functioning pretty well now, so it seems that the outage has simply given us a one-day vacation from our dropping routines. For me this was a welcome break because I managed to log in shortly after the site came back online and was able to scoop up some relatively inexpensive advertising deals.
